Distinctives

Faith Church distinctives are not our core beliefs, but our core beliefs guide these distinct
practices. These components are integral to our corporate worship gatherings.

Here are three distinctives that Faith Church holds that may be unique to our context.

At Faith Church we believe that the singing of believers leads us into a place to be receptive to the working of God, through the Holy Spirit. We believe this is true for every gathering that Faith Church has. The first way we become receptive is by practicing biblical obedience by singing (Colossians 3:16, Ephesians 5:18-19, Psalm 100:4). Secondly, there is a real way in which the presence and power of God is stirred up through corporate singing. God sits enthroned on our praises (Psalm 22:3) and music can bring the presence of God in a more tangible way (2 Kings 3:15). Music was created by God to stir our emotions, so when we sing truths about God we can expect our emotions and affections to be directed towards Him.

When you come to Faith Church you will find that we value 25-30 minutes of uninterrupted worship through singing to begin our time together. We believe that there is great value in lingering in His presence for this extended time. There is also freedom in the way people express their love for God and gratitude for all he has done. Many will sing and raise their hands, others may sit quietly and meditate. Whatever your physical posture is, our desire is that your heart’s posture will be towards God.

Faith Church Statesville can rightly be labeled a “continuationist” church. We believe that the gifts of the Spirit are still active and available for the Church today. This includes the gifts of mercy, helps, teaching, and administration. We also believe and practice in the gifts found in 1 Corinthians 12:8-11 which are words of wisdom and knowledge, faith, healings, miracles, prophecy, distinguishing spirits, tongues, and interpretation of tongues. (A comprehensive list of gifts of the Spirit in the New Testament are found in Romans 12:4-8, 1 Corinthians 12:8-11, 28, Ephesians 4:11-13, 1 Peter 4:10-11).

If you attend a gathering at Faith Church you might see any of these gifts practiced decently and in order, as directed by 1 Corinthians 14. It is not unusual for someone to give a prophetic word publicly to the church gathered or privately to an individual. When asked a Pastor or prayer team member will pray for physical healing by the laying on of hands as prescribed in Mark 16:18 and James 5:13-18.

We believe that incorporating children and teenagers into the Sunday morning corporate gatherings is instrumental to their growth in their love for the Lord. On Sunday mornings children in 3rd grade and above stay upstairs for the corporate worship time. It is our belief that this age group is able to listen, learn, and engage the singing and teaching from the stage. If this means that sometimes there is a little more noise in the Worship Center, we welcome that.

Children from birth to 2nd grade are invited to Faith Kids on Sunday morning in the kids wing downstairs. Nursery is available for those 3 and under while pre-school to 2nd grade engage with their teachers in a bible lesson, singing, and games.

While we value the presence of older children and youth in our Sunday corporate gatherings, we still want to connect them with their peers and give them age appropriate discipleship. Third to fifth graders can attend Faith Followers every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. Sixth grade to high school meet on Sunday mornings at 9 AM for Bible study and for youth gatherings on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM.
